Got up very late this morning as I had kept awake the previous night watching a cricket match. My parents knew the fact, so they let me sleep till late as it was Sunday and I had no early engagements. It was leisure time affgr very long and I wanted to enjoy it to my heart’s content. I went through both Gujarati and English newspapers relishing coffee and snacks. Then I spent almost an hour taking a thorough bath. What a feel after ages! Once more in the beginning of a new week, getting up early, going to school, and facing the same age-old faces of teachers was nothing less than daunting to me; however I recovered in the recess being in the company of my friends. We had our snacks-boxes and sharing the eatables among ourselves really boosted up my spirit. Learning English with my favourite teacher was energising. Going back home riding cycles with friends and playing pranks along the way was more fun.

My father was going to buy a new car this Friday, so I went to school but could hardly manage to concentrate on my studies. Was waiting very eagerly to reach home hurriedly as soon as school got over. But in her state of depression, she wanted a companion, and ‘She found that only a diary could be her true and patient friend wherein she could squeeze out her boredom.

She wrote that she had loving parents arid a sixteen-year-old sister, Margot. There were about thirty people whom she could call her friends. She also had a family, loving aunts and a good home, but still she wanted a true friend, which she found in the form of a diary and she fondly named it ‘Kitty’.

Anne was sent to Montessori nursery school. She stayed there till she was six. That time their headmistress was Mrs Kuperus. She was given tearful farewell at the end of the year. Anne read the story in the class. It had a story of a mother duck and father swan with three ducklings. The father swan had bitten the three ducklings to death as they quacked too much. In fact it was a joke on Mr Keesing, but luckily he took it in right way. Then she was allowed to talk and no extra work was given. Mr Keesing was a changed person then, and he also started cutting jokes in the class.
