ARE TASTE AND SMELL LINKED?
Are taste and smell linked to each other? Have you ever wondered why the food doesn’t taste as good when you have a cold or a blocked nose?
When you eat, some chemicals from the food travel up your nose where they are detected by tiny nerve endings at the back of the nose. These nerves send a message to the brain which becomes part of the overall taste sensation experienced by us. While on the other hand if your nose is blocked the food chemicals can’t reach the nerve receptors and so the overall taste is not as strong.
